Forged Flange RFQ Checklist
A complete forged flange RFQ should clearly state the standard, material, size, pressure rating, facing, quantity, inspection process and destination. Use this checklist to prepare the first message clearly so quotation review can start without repeated clarification.
Summary
A complete forged flange RFQ should clearly state the standard, material, size, pressure rating, facing, quantity, inspection process and destination. Use this checklist to prepare the first message clearly so quotation review can start without repeated clarification.
List size, pressure rating, material and quantity
Attach inspection and certificate requirements early
Include destination country and packing expectations
RFQ Data Fields That Prevent Re-Quotation
| RFQ field | Minimum usable data | Example | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ASME, EN, DIN, GOST or drawing number | ASME B16.5 | Sets dimensional table and inspection basis |
| Size | NPS or DN plus bore or schedule | NPS 6, Sch 80 bore | Prevents bore and wall-thickness mismatch |
| Pressure rating | Class or PN | Class 600 or PN 40 | Controls thickness, drilling and face requirements |
| Material | Exact grade and condition | ASTM A105N or A350 LF2 | Controls MTC, heat treatment and test route |
| Facing | RF, FF, RTJ or drawing face | RTJ R46 groove | Changes machining and inspection scope |
| Documents | MTC, NDT and third-party inspection | MTC 3.1 + PMI + UT | Prevents late document cost additions |
Practical Checklist
Use this list before sending drawings or line items for quotation review.
Flange type: weld neck, slip-on, blind, socket weld, threaded, lap joint or custom drawing
Standard or drawing: ASME B16.5, EN, DIN, GOST or project-specific drawing
Size: NPS or DN, plus bore if the drawing is not standard
Pressure rating: Class, PN or project pressure requirement
Material grade and condition, such as ASTM A105, A105N or A350 LF2
Facing and connection details: RF, RTJ, FF, bore, bolt pattern and tolerance notes
Quantity, required delivery destination and needed-by date
Inspection documents: MTC 3.1, dimensional report, PMI, UT, MT, PT or third-party inspection
Common RFQ Mistakes
These points often cause repeated clarification, price revisions or document mismatch.
- Sending only a product name without standard, size or pressure rating
- Mixing DN, NPS, PN and Class references without a drawing or specification
- Leaving facing, bore or bolt pattern unclear for non-standard requirements
- Requesting certificate or inspection documents only after price discussion
- Omitting destination country, packing requirement or third-party inspection need
